Gayle Waldschmidt

Gayle Denise Teske Waldschmidt, 75 of Dowagiac, joined God in Heaven on Thursday, February 23,
2023.
Gayle was born in Niles to the late Clifford and Zeta (Werner) Teske.
She is preceded in death by her parents, as well as her brother, Larry Teske and step son, Steven
Waldschmidt.
Gayle was married to Ben Waldschmidt, Jr. of Dowagiac for 15 years, who survives.
Gayle was a Bank Teller at Standard Federal, which became LaSalle Bank, for 25 years. She was an active
member at St. Mary of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Niles and found great joy in being
part of the choir. Singing was always a passion of hers, along with reading and bird watching. Gayle also
loved her pets, always having room in her heart for a doggy cuddle.
Those left to cherish her memory are Gayle’s son, Kevin (Elizabeth) Waldschmidt of Dowagiac and their
children Katelyn and Jaren Waldschmidt of Dowagiac. She is also survived by her step-children; Susan
Cagala of Adrian, MI, Sharon Susland of Vandalia, MI, Sherrie Waldschmidt of Florida, and an additional
8 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.
Visitation for Gayle will be on Monday, February 27, 2023 from 5:00pm to 7:00pm at Halbritter Wickens
Funeral Home, 615 E. Main St. Niles. A Funeral Liturgy will begin at 7:00pm in the funeral home.
