Alan Meador

November 6, 1958 — October 26, 2017

Alan Jay Meador, age 58 years of Niles, Michigan died peacefully at 1:25 a.m. on Thursday, October 26, 2017 in the comfort of his own home surrounded by family after battling cancer since January of 2017.

He was born on November 6, 1958 in Niles to Thomas J. and Bonnie C. (Goldfuss) Meador. He attended Brandywine Schools until his senior year when he moved to Niles High School from which he graduated in 1977. He earned certification as an HVAC technician, and was a member of the Sheet Metal Workers International Association, Local #20 in South Bend, Indiana. In 2006 he established Al’s Heating & Air Conditioning, and with the help of his wife served many members of the Niles community as well as several surrounding areas.

Al was a member of the Edwardsburg Conservation Club, where he volunteered his professional services, and enjoyed firearm sports. He also enjoyed riding his motorcycle, fishing in area lakes and rivers, and was known to occasionally visit a casino. His greatest joy was his family who remember him as a genuinely kind and generous man who they enjoyed sharing with extra kids and friends to be considered as family. He will be greatly missed by all.

On September 9, 1983 in Niles he married the former Robin L. Seastrom with whom he celebrated last month the thirty-fourth anniversary of their wedding.

Surviving family includes his wife, Robin Meador and their children, Kelly (& David) Schoff, Tona Crooker, Amy (& Greg) Hammond, and Susan Schoff, all of Niles; grandchildren Kyle, Gavin, Nathan, Nila, Macy, Liam, Jack, Jude, Maddox, Kimberly, and Abagail; and Al’s siblings, Scott (& Linda) Meador and Faith (& Mike) Cameron, both of Niles, Dan (& Connie) Meador of Mishawaka, Indiana, and Charles Meador of Kalamazoo, Michigan; and many nieces and nephews.
