Niles

Amy Clayton, age 45 years of Niles, Michigan passed away unexpectedly at 7:30pm on Tuesday, November 22nd 2022 at Spectrum Lakeland Medical Center in Saint Joseph, Michigan.

Amy was born on December 10, 1976, in Saint Joseph, Michigan to Gerald J. and Linda D. (Harrison) Clayton. She was an active and social child while attending River school in Sodus Michigan during her elementary years. Amy attended several other local schools until she obtained her GED from Benton Harbor Michigan.

During her childhood Amy and her sister Jennifer had several fond memories of feeding deer at Deer Forest and riding coasters at Enchanted Forest every summer.

Amy, in her younger years, could be described as caring, generous, family orientated, traditional, animal advocate, music lover, and athletic.

This was shown through the careers she possessed such as helping children for the State of Michigan, Customer Service and a Home Maker for her children.

Amy did her best keeping a tidy house, cooking “edible” meals and giving her children all the love, they needed.

Amy always surrounded herself with animals she loved. Her first dog who stole her heart was named Lacey (deceased). Amy later on had Annabelle (dog) and several cats: Meow Meow, Snowball, Blackie, and Tigger.

Amy moved to Cassopolis Michigan (1998) then to Niles Michigan (2015) where she spent the remainder of her life.

Amy spent most her free time listening to music, watching her favorite TV shows (Crime shows, American Idol, Love Stories), video chatting with family, collecting Angels and taking pictures of her family.

Amy loved video chatting with her nephew Larry “Eddie” III (Kasey) Sibley and their children:   Harley, Mckenzie, Briar, and Jessi.

Amy struggled significantly with mental health issues but found comfort in the artists she idolized such as Carrie Underwood, Michael Jackson, and several other inspiring artists

Amy was proceeded in death by her mother, Linda Darlene Harrison-Mills on December 29th 2018 along with her Grandma Verna Lee Fortson (Clayton) on August 15th 2017.

Surviving family includes her children, Abigail Harrison (26 years) and Jacob Lauri (16 years) both of Niles Michigan. Amy’s sister, Jennifer (Jack) Goff of Cassopolis Michigan and her nephew/nieces:  Larry   “Eddie” III, Sarah, and  Randy Sibley along with her  great nieces/nephews.
