Betty Dean Skalla

 Betty D. Skalla, 92, of Niles, died peacefully Sunday, May 24, 2026 in the comfort of her home.

 Her life began June 11, 1933 in Van Buren County Arkansas, born to Lloyd F. and Blanche Womack. She was a Michigan resident for most of her life and graduated from Buchanan High School. She married James F. Skalla on April 11, 1953. Betty served many years at the Niles-Buchanan Meals on Wheels and was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Niles. She was known for having a warm and generous heart.

 Betty will be greatly missed by family and friends. She is survived by two sons, Jay (Cece) Skalla, Thomas Skalla; one daughter Karen (Eric) Vinnedge; eight grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband of nearly sixty years, her son Robert, grandsons Ben and Patrick, and great-grandson Valen.

 Betty’s Mass of Christian Burial, will take place Friday, May 29, 2026, 11:00 a.m. at St. Mary of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 219 South State Street, Niles with Fr. Christian Johnston officiating. Family and friends will gather at the church, one hour prior. She will be laid to rest in Calvary Cemetery.

 Contributions in memory of Betty may be made to St. Mary of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church or Meals on Wheels.
