Calvin Edward Cheesbrough

Calvin Edward Cheesbrough, 91, of Niles Michigan, died peacefully at home in his favorite chair,with his pipe, goldfish crackers and a good book beside him on October 13, 2025. His life began August 8, 1934 in Watseka Illinois, the first of three children born to Lucille and Joseph Cheesbrough.

Even though Cal spent his career in the financial world, he had the heart of a cowboy. Cal filled his life with adventures along- side his wife Chris, especially out west to “his” mountains. He was a member of a couple camping clubs and met many friends there. His children brought him tremendous joy, but spending time with his precious grandchildren and the one and only great grand-daughter Addie was his biggest joy of all.

Cal will be greatly missed by family and friends. He is survived by one favorite daughter, Tami Hengesbaugh of St. Charles Illinois; one favorite son, Tim (Debi) Cheesbrough of Belvidere Illinois; five grandchildren, Jake (Michelle) Cheesbrough of Watertown Wisconsin, Josh Cheesbrough of Belvidere Illinois, Brett Hengesbaugh of Chicago Illinois, Claire Hengesbaugh of Ft. Collins Colorado, Drew Hengesbaugh of St. Charles Illinois, great grand-daughter, Adrian Cheesbrough of Watertown Wisconsin; one brother, Leon Cheesbrough of Mundelein Illinois and a host of nieces and nephews. Cal was preceded in death by his sister Cynthia Clifton in October 2024 and the love of his life, his little red-head, Christine Cheesbrough in October of 2001.

Family and friends will gather Thursday, October 23, 2025 at 10:00 a.m. in Halbritter Wickens Funeral Services, 615 East Main Street, Niles, Michigan 49120 We will be going in procession from the visitation to his Mass of Christian burial 11:00 a.m. in St. Mark Catholic Church 3 N 19th St, Niles, MI 49120. The family suggests wearing cowboy boots in Cal's honor. Cal will be laid to rest in Calvary cemetery.

The family prefers contributions be made in memory of Cal to: The American Cancer Society or the charity of your choice.
