Charlene Faught

August 10, 1942 — October 30, 2018

Charlene Ann Faught, age 76 years of Niles, Michigan died peacefully at 10:40 p.m. on Tuesday, October 30, 2018 at The Center for Hospice Care in South Bend, Indiana following an extended illness.  Charlene’s family and friends are grateful for the compassionate and professional care provided by the Hospice staff.

She was born on August 10, 1942 in Niles to Lyle M. and Ella M. (Lantz) Armstrong.  She was graduated from the Dowagiac (Michigan) High School, attended Bob Jones University in Greenville, South Carolina, and completed her Bachelor’s degree in Accounting at Fresno (California) City College.  She was employed in hospital finance in California for many years, took a brief visit to Maryland, and then returned to Niles where she had been employed at Martin’s Supermarket until retirement.  In retirement she was employed in the office of Wesley United Methodist Church as secretary and caring for the finances.

Charlene was a member of the Wesley United Methodist Church in Niles where she also sang in the choir, and was Certified by The United Methodist Church as a Lay Speaker.  She enjoyed traveling throughout the United States, and to Brazil to visit a former foreign exchange student who is now a successful physician.  She golfed on area leagues, usually at Hampshire Country Club in Dowagiac, and loved animals, especially her pet dogs.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Lyle and Ella Armstrong, and by a brother, Phillip who was 3 years old when he died in an automobile accident.

She is survived by her brothers, Maurice Devon (& Ruth) Armstrong of Niles and Ted (& Linda) Armstrong of Bel Air, Maryland; by several nieces and nephews; and by a great circle of wonderful friends.

The memorial service for Charlene Faught will be at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 11, 2018 at the Wesley United Methodist Church, 302 Cedar Street in Niles with the Rev. Robert L. Snodgrass II of the church officiating.  Committal will be private, at a later date at Plum Grove Cemetery near Union, Michigan.

Contributions in memory of Charlene may be made to Wesley United Methodist Church; or to Milano’s Cancer Fund, 215 North Seventeenth Street, Niles, Michigan, 49120.
