Charles W. McBain, Sr., age 69 years of Niles, Michigan died at 9:19 a.m. on Friday, December 28, 2012 at Lakeland Regional Medical Center in Saint Joseph, Michigan following an extended illness.

He was born on February 11, 1943 in Niles to Everett and Pearl M. (Hunt) McBain. He attended Niles schools, and has lived here all of his life. He was employed for twenty-two years at Sunstrand in Dowagiac.

Charlie enjoyed hunting in the area, and listening to country music. He has always enjoyed working outside, and as a younger man enjoyed working on the farm.

On May 15, 1965 in Edwardsburg, Michigan he married the former Margaret Jean Martin with whom he celebrated the forty-seventh anniversary of their wedding this year.

Surviving family includes his wife, Margaret McBain, and their children, Carrie (& Mike) Long and Charles McBain, Jr., and a grandson, Zebulon McBain, all of Niles; and Charlie’s siblings, Jim McBain of Mount Vernon, Missouri, Robert McBain of Niles, Doris Vore of Fort McCoy, Florida, and Norma Nolan of Niles; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Everett and Pearl McBain, and step-mother, Margaret Ann McBain; and by his siblings, George McBain, Marion Lintz, Mary Hancock, and Evelyn Hansen.

Contributions in memory of Charles McBain may be made to the Berrien County Cancer Service, 7301 Red Arrow Highway, Stevensville, Michigan 49127; or to Hospice at Home, 4025 Health Park Lane, Saint Joseph, Michigan 49085. Arrangements were made at the Halbritter Funeral Home in Niles.
