Dalton Sebastion Prentice

Dalton Sebastion Prentice, 30, of Dowagiac, died Sunday, May 11, 2025.

His life began August 18, 1994, in Niles the oldest of two born to Leslie and Jennifer Prentice. He married Mersadies Thar in July 2, 2016 in Buchanan. They have been married for eight years, but have been together for twelve years.

Dalton cherished spending time with his family, especially his wife and kids. He was an avid Notre Dame and Chicago Bears football fan. He enjoyed training his boys in the side yard of his home, hoping they would one day play football for Notre Dame. He played guitar and enjoyed riding dirt bikes in the yard with his brother, dad, and boys. The driveway was his favorite place to be. He could often be found working on his 1979 Bronco and enjoying time with family at a cookout. Dalton loved camping with his entire family, even if that meant in his yard.

Dalton will be greatly missed by family and friends. He is survived by his wife of eight years, Mersadies Prentice; three sons, Ashton Prentice, Dawson Prentice, Hudson Prentice; parents, Leslie and Jennifer Prentice; one brother, Dylan (Sierra Jedlowski) Prentice; parents-in-law, Jacob II and Shauna Thar; brothers-in-law, Jon Thar, Tony (Becca) Thar; sister-in-law, Autumn Thar; grandparents, Denise Wolverton, Jacob and Marybeth Thar, Sheila Rigdon; nieces, Lucy, Paisley, Taylor, Olivia; nephews, Ben, Logan, Mattix, Jasper, Landon; uncles, Jamey Prentice, William Wolverton; aunts, Nina Prentice, Angel Prentice; and a host of cousins.

He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Dave Ongley and his great grandparents, Robert and Carolyn Skinner.

The family will observe a private remembrance.

Dalton will be laid to rest in Silverbrook Cemetery, Niles.
