David Wayne Echevarria

David Wayne Echevarria, 66, of Niles, died peacefully Friday, October 30, 2026 in the comfort of his family’s presence.

His life began July 4, 1960 in Niles, Michigan the second of four children born to Celestino “Tino” and Geraldine Echevarria. He married Tonia Sallee on January 4, 1984 in Niles, Michigan.

David loved spending time with his family and grandchildren, they were the apple of David’s eye. He’d supported his family’s thirty-year tradition of the “Echevarria fourth of July family reunion. He enjoyed various activities outdoors such as fishing, hunting, golfing, and riding motorcycles. David was a skilled wood worker and carpenter.

David will be greatly missed by family and friends. He is survived by his loving wife of forty-two years, Tonia Sallee of Niles; two sons, Michael (Rebekah) Echevarria of Athens, Michigan, and Brian (Morgan) Echevarria of Niles; two granddaughters, Briseis Echevarria, and Ella Echevarria; one grandson, MJ Echevarria; one sister, Patricia Bianchini of Niles; two brothers, Steve Echevarria of Niles, and Robert Echevarria of Katy, Texas.

He was preceded in death by His parents; and son, David Wayne Echevarria II.

Family and friends will gather Friday, November 6, 2026 from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 noon in Halbritter Wickens Funeral Services, 615 East Main Street, Niles.

David will be laid to rest next to his father, mother, and son in Silverbrook Cemetery.
