Dorothy Schneck

July 18, 1921 — May 30, 2017

Dorothy Schneck, 95, loving wife, mother and grandmother passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, May 30th, surrounded by her loving family.

Dorothy was born on July 18, 1921, in Nappanee, Indiana to the late Hubert and Goldie (Kronk) McDonald. On July 22, 1939, she married the love of her life, Otto Schneck. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, as well as her sister Jessie Pollock and son-in-law Steve Schuyler.

Dorothy is survived by her two loving daughters, Sandra Schuyler of Niles and Patricia Wojtkowski of Edwardsburg; her grandchildren: Shelley Schuyler Klug, Barb (Rick) Erickson, Deb (Shannon) Williams, Stephen Schuyler; great-grandchildren: Nicole Phillips, Ashley Erickson, Kayce Erickson, Thomas Erickson, Zach Williams, Josh Krassow, Bryce Williams, Gabriella Schuyler, Gianna Schuyler; great-great-grandchildren: Ryan Erickson, Cadence Phillips, Londyn Phillips, Kenzie Erickson, Hailey Erickson, Briley Phillips, Landon Erickson, and Weston Downing. She also has many nieces and nephews that held a special place in her heart.

Dorothy worked as a hand folder at Simplicity Patterns for over 30 years. In her younger years, she and Otto enjoyed spending time with friends and going square dancing. Dorothy loved people and valued time spent with family and friends. She enjoyed going out to eat with her daughters and grandchildren, watching her great-grandchildren participate in various sporting events, and sitting around the campfire at the Burger Farm. She had been a member of Grace United Methodist Church since the age of four and was a strong, loving, Christian woman that would share her love of Jesus with anyone. Dorothy was a member of the Senior Citizens’ bowling league after retiring and was even known to get a Turkey from time to time. Dorothy lived a long and fulfilled life. All of us who knew and loved her are better off for having her in our lives.

Visitation for Dorothy will be held at Halbritter Wickens Funeral Home 615 E. Main St. Niles, MI on Sunday, June 4th, 2017 from 6-8 p.m. A celebration of her life will be held on Monday, June 5th, at 11:00 a.m. in Grace United Methodist Church 501 Grant Street, Niles with Rev. Robert Snodgrass presiding.
