Douglas Allen Horein

Douglas Allen Horein, 67, of Mishawaka, Indiana, passed away Tuesday, March 10, 2026 in his home after an extended illness.

His life began February 23, 1959 in South Bend, Indiana to Terry L. and Kathryn “Kay” E. Horein, who preceded him in death.

Doug graduated from Penn High School and spent much of his life working in construction. He began his career working with Terry Horein Builders and continued in the construction field for many years. He was known as a hard worker who took pride in his work and the people he worked alongside.

More than anything, Doug valued time with his family. He loved the outdoors, especially hunting, and enjoyed sharing those moments and memories with the people he cared about most. He will be remembered for his generous and caring nature and his own sense of humor.

Doug will be greatly missed by family and friends. He is survived by his daughters, Katie Horein, Kaysie (Cameron) Sly; son, Cory Horein; granddaughters, Reggie Renae, Jordie Anne; sisters, Debby (Steve) Kildow, Donna (Brett) Schrock; brother, David (Celeste) Horein; and many extended family members.

Family and friends will gather Sunday, March 15, 2026 from 1:00 p.m. until time of service at 3:00 p.m. in Halbritter Wickens Funeral Services, 615 East Main Street, Niles.

Doug’s memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
