Earl D. Ogden, age 80 years of Niles, Michigan died at 1:07 a.m. on Saturday, May 11, 2013 at his home following a brief illness.
He was born on May 19, 1932 in Oak Mills, Kansas to Charles and Dona (Cantrell) Ogden. He was graduated from Central High School in Saint Joseph, Missouri, and enlisted in the United States Marine Corps. He was a veteran of the Korean Conflict, and completed his obligation as a Staff Sergeant. He was then graduated from Oklahoma A&M Tech in Okmulgee in 1957. He began his career in printing with Henry Wurst, Inc. of Kansas City, Missouri. He was later employed at Precision Litho in Fort Wayne, Indiana, and was retired from Peterson Printing in South Bend in 1995. He has lived in Niles since 1972.

Earl was a member of the First Missionary Church in Niles. He and his wife, Jeanie enjoyed working together, volunteering with Project Teamwork of Homestead, Florida, East European Harvest of Mobile, Alabama, World Partners of the Missionary Church in Saint Petersburg, Russia and Southwest Texas, the Horn Creek Conference Grounds in Westcliffe, Colorado, and Child Evangelism Fellowship in Berrien Center, Michigan and Warrenton, Missouri and Samaritan’s Purse in Charlotte, North Carolina.

On July 1, 1955 at the Wyatt Park Christian Church in Saint Joseph, Missouri he married the former Jean S. Lawson with whom he celebrated last year the fifty-seventh anniversary of their wedding.

He is survived by his wife, Jeanie Ogden and their children, Christina Nimtz, Nancy (& David) Brelowski, and Dan (& Teresa) Perry all of Niles; grandchildren Michael Brelowski, Matthew Brelowski, Luke Brelowski, Joshua Perry, Jeni (& Derrick) Reed, Joel Perry, Zackry Nimtz & fiancée, Elizabeth Belton, and Betsy (& Richard) Salvagni; great-grandchildren Mira Salvagni, Gia Salvagni, Kiya Reed, Kloe Reed, Lyrec Perry, and Hailee Garnas; and Earl’s sisters and brothers, Jean Blanton of Saint Joseph, Missouri, Rhoda (& William) Embry of Union Star, Missouri, Ron (& Shirley) Hesselschwerdt of Little Rock, Arkansas, John (& Arlyne) Hesselschwerdt of Menifee, California, and Ed (& LaDonna) Hesselschwerdt of Midland, Texas; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a grandson, Adam Brelowski, and by sisters, Kathryn Ent, Josephine Palmer, and Dory Myers, and brothers, Harvey Ogden, and Richard Hesselschwerdt.

The funeral service for Earl Ogden will be at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, May 15, 2013 at the First Missionary Church in Niles with the Rev. Daniel Miller of the church officiating. Committal will follow at Silverbrook Cemetery in Niles and will conclude with Military Honors by the United States Marine Corps Honor Guard.

The family will receive relatives and friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday at the Halbritter Funeral Home in Niles.
