Gail Cheeseman

Gail C. Cheesman, age 70 years of Niles, Michigan died at 12:29 a.m. on Monday, June 12, 2017 with her family at her bedside at Memorial Hospital in South Bend, Indiana following an extended illness which she fought courageously.

She was born on August 29, 1946, and was a daughter of Richard John and Marilyn Geneva (Womack) Duis. She was graduated from Niles High School, and has lived here most of her life.

Gail enjoyed gardening, a great variety of good music, fast American-built muscle cars, and Lake Michigan. She is remembered by her family as being very patriotic and – above all else – loving and caring for her family, especially the grandchildren.

Surviving family includes her children, Jacinda (& Todd) Edman of Niles, Steven Frizzo of Niles, and Nathaniel (& Laura) Frizzo of Elkhart, Indiana; grandchildren Emerson, Clayton, Colton, and Cooper Edman, and Caden and Cobin Frizzo; and Gail’s brothers, David (& Shirley) Duis of Niles, Randy (& Lena) Duis of Valparaiso, Indiana, Andy Duis of Cape Coral, Florida, and Danny (& Terri) Duis of Calhoun, Georgia; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and by a sister, Sherry Wright.

Services for Gail Cheesman will be at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 29, 2017 at the Halbritter-Wickens Funeral Home in Niles with the Rev. Mark Moore of River Valley Community Church in Mishawaka, Indiana officiating. The interment will be done privately at Silverbrook Cemetery in Niles.

The family will receive relatives and friends beginning at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home. Contributions in memory of Gail may be made to the Berrien County Cancer Service, Inc.
