Gregory Neal Johnson, 73, of Niles, formerly of Iron River, Michigan, in the Upper Peninsula, died peacefully early in the morning of Tuesday April 23, 2024, one week after his seventy-third birthday.
His life began April 16, 1951 the youngest of two children born to George and Marcella Johnson.
He married Cynthia Jackson on February 4, 1978 in Iron River Michigan. She preceded him in death in 1986.
Greg was a naturalist, he enjoyed being outdoors; he was an avid fly fisherman. He also loved woodworking and wood carving. He was a big University of Michigan fan, following both their football and basketball teams. Greg was never without a dog, his current dog, Harmon, was his favorite. Wherever you found him he would be listening to music, specifically classic rock. He was family oriented and loved to spend time with his grandchildren.
Gregory will be greatly missed by family and friends. He is survived by two sons, Justin Dane (Billie) Johnson of Niles, Kory John (Crystal) Jackson of Elkhart; one daughter, Michelle Menapace of Edwardsburg; six grandchildren; sister, Diane (Jay) King of Iron River; and two nephews. In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents.
Services will be announced at a later date.
Gregory will be laid to rest in his beloved Upper Peninsula of Michigan.
