 James D. Cook, 75, of Niles, died peacefully Tuesday June 16, 2026.

 His life began November 8, 1950 in South Bend Indiana, the first of two children born to James and Marge Cook. Jim graduated from Clay High School and then went on to serve his country in the Army National Guard. Jim was a hard worker and business man. He did machining and tool and die making for many years. Jim owned the Shell station at the Eastgate Shopping Center and then he operated Yankee Street Storage. Jim traveled the country with his son and many friends drag racing. He loved to take the time for photography and bird watching. Jim was an avid animal lover, his favorite being his dog, Roxie. Later in life, he was able to travel, visiting, Africa, Galapagos Islands and other beautiful places. Most of all, he loved spending time with his grandson any chance he could get.

 Jim will be greatly missed by family and friends. He is survived by one son, Andrew (Julie) Cook of Niles; one grandson, Logan Cook of Niles; companion of over forty years of Niles, Susan Cook; one brother, Gary (Diana) Cook of Edwardsburg and one cousin, Katie Hanson of Portage.

 A private service has taken place.
