Joan Patterson Miller

Joan C. Patterson Miller, 89, of Buchanan passed away at Brentwood of Niles on April 30, 2018.

Joan was born on November 12, 1928 in Oakdale, PA to the late Lysander and Ida (Bell) Clemens.

On December 12, 1953 in Buchanan Joan married Robert E. Miller who passed away on January 24, 2001.  She is also preceded by her son, Todd C. Miller and her brother James P. Clemens.

Joan is survived by her son, Kent E. Miller of Buchanan, her granddaughter Candice A. (Keith) Kaplon of Niles, her great granddaughter Reece Joan Kaplon, and her very special friends, Nancy and William Cameron, Martha Cleveland and Alma Holtgrin.

Joan had received her Bachelors of Science Degree from Slippery Rock PA in 1950.  She taught for two years in Pennsylvania before teaching Kindergarten for 28 years in Buchanan, and creating the Young Fives program.  She was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Niles.

A very special ‘Thank you’ to the amazing staff at Brentwood who took wonderful care of my grandmother.

Burial of cremains will take place in Oak Ridge Cemetery at a later date.

The family has entrusted Halbritter Wickens 615 E. Main St. Niles with the arrangements.
