 Marjorie Irene Cooper, age 98, of Niles, Michigan died peacefully at home surrounded by her family at 11:56 a.m. on Thursday, February 25, 2016 following an illness.

She was born on May 13, 1917 in Marshall County, Indiana to Wilbur and Nora (James) Feece. She graduated from Knox (Indiana) High School, and has lived in her current home since 1959.

Marjorie's greatest joy was her family. She taught Sunday school to children of all ages and loved serving the Lord. She was a Charter Member of Fairland Christian Church in Niles. She was also a member of the Beta Sigma Phi Sorority.

On August 9, 1940 in South Bend, Indiana she married Claude L. Cooper with whom she celebrated the forty-second anniversary of their wedding prior to his death on February 2, 1983. She was preceded in death by her brothers, James Feece and Kenneth Feece.

Surviving family include her children, Richard (Nancy) Cooper of Niles, Victoria (Bill) Mihelich of Surprise, Arizona, and Valerie (Mike) Smither of Brooklyn, Michigan; grandchildren Dawn (Dallas) Bergl, Denise (Bill) Kasprzak, Daniel Cooper, Carrie (Patrick) Muessig, Sherri (Scott) Moody, Merrideth Wickler, Katelyn Smither, Michael Smither, Tracy (Todd) Geer, Erin (Dave) Eggers, Jamie (Scott) Oberto, and Jeff (Abbra) Smither; great-grandchildren Dallas (Natalie) and Dakota (Ashley) Bergl, Claudia and Brenden Muessig, Cooper, Verona, and Ryen Moody, Alexis, Grace, and Timothy Wickler, Madison and Marlee Geer, Scott and Nathan Eggers, Winter Oberto, Chenzia Smither; and great-great-granddaughter, Victoria Bergl.

The funeral for Marjorie I. Cooper will be at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, March 1, 2016 at the Fairland Christian Church. Her nephew, Mr. Glenn Anderson of Chillicothe, Ohio is officiating, assisted by Mr. Donald Fleischman of the church and Mr. Jack VanArsdall. Committal will follow at Mission Hills.

The family will receive relatives and friends on Monday from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m. at the Halbritter Funeral Home in Niles. Contributions in memory of Marjorie may be made to the Fairland Christian Church Youth Ministry and Hospice at Home.
