Michael John VanDerbeck

Michael John VanDerbeck, 63, of Niles, died peacefully Sunday, May 17, 2026 in the comfort of his family’s presence.

His life began December 25, 1962 in Niles the fourth of four children born to William and Elizabeth VanDerbeck.

Mike graduated from Niles High School in 1981 and then graduated from the University of Notre Dame. He enjoyed music especially playing guitar. Mike Loved talking to people. He knew no strangers and was always willing to give a hug. Most of all, he loved being with his family and friends.

Mike will be greatly missed by family and friends. He is survived by two brothers, William “Bill” VanDerbeck of Kentucky; James “Scott” (Sara) VanDerbeck of Indiana and a host of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Robert VanDerbeck.

A Mass of Christian Burial will take place Friday, June 26, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. in St. Mary of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church 322 Clay St., Niles, Michigan. Inurnment will follow at Calvary Cemetery and a Luncheon will be held at the church. Contributions in Mike's name may be made to the Niles High School Class of 1981.
