Austin Godsey, Jr., 89, passed away at 8:15pm on Monday, January 1, 2018 in Rittenhouse in Michigan City, IN.
Austin was born on January 10, 1928 in Martinsville, IN to the late Minor and Flossie (McDaniel) Godsey, Sr. On April 8, 1952, Austin married Marilyn (McCoy) and she passed away on May 10, 2016, after 64 years of marriage. Austin was also preceded in death by a sister, Carolyn.
Austin is survived by sons, Mark (Gayle) of New Buffalo, MI and Tom (Sheryl) of Hendersonville, TN; grandchildren, Blake (Ilene), Brett (Cristina), Brandon, Cami, Ben, and Blair; great-grandchildren, Avi, Aden, and Hannah; and nieces, Lisa and Nancy.
Austin honorably served his country in the United States Marine Corp during the Korean War. He was the founder of McCoy Concrete in Niles. He was a graduate of Indiana University where he played basketball and had continued to watch Indiana Basketball for many years. He was one of the founders of Babe Ruth Baseball in Niles and was very active in the YMCA. Austin loved his family and always put them first over himself.

Funeral Service will be at 11am on Saturday, January 6, 2018 in HALBRITTER WICKENS FUNERAL HOME 615 E. Main St., Niles, where family and friends may gather one hour prior to the Funeral. Private family burial will be at Silverbrook Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, Memorial Contributions may be made to the YMCA of Niles, 905 North Front St., Niles, MI 49120.
