Patricia Lynn Christman

March 19, 1956 — June 27, 2025

Niles, Michigan

Patricia Lynn Christman, age 69 years of Niles, Michigan; mother, sister, aunt, and friend to many died peacefully on Friday, June 27, 2025 at her home following a very brief illness.

She was born on March 19, 1956 in Dowagiac, Michigan to William F. and Barbara M. (Copick) Pohlman, and was graduated from Buchanan (Michigan) High School. Patty never drove a car, but walked to her various shopping needs and appointments in downtown Niles, nearly daily, and usually pushing her 2-wheel, folding shopping cart. She was always dressed nicely, usually a long dress and several layers of sweaters, and was often accompanied by her friend, Ed.

At home, Trish enjoyed daily episodes of television soap operas including Jill Abbott and Katherine Chancellor on “The Young and The Restless”, and Stephanie Forrester and Brooke Logan on “The Bold and the Beautiful”. Although she had no pets, she loved cats, and also was a fan of the “Garfield” comic strip. Her favorite meal was fried chicken.

She attended Bethel Baptist Church in Niles, and was quite artistic. She completed many volumes of color-by-number drawings, and selected, signed, and mailed Christmas cards to many, many friends and relatives. She always was looking after other people in her life.

Patricia is preceded in death by her parents, Bill Pohlman and Barb Pohlman.

Surviving family includes her children, Joshua David Pohlman and Mary Elizabeth Pohlman; Trish’s sisters, Mary Ritchie of Buchanan and Barbara Ellerbrook of Niles; their brother, Bill Ellerbrook of Dowagiac; and several nieces and nephews including Michael and Joy, and grand niece and nephew, Sabrina and Tomas.

The Memorial Service for Patricia Christman will be at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 12, 2025 at the Bethel Baptist Church, 1605 Silverbrook Avenue in Niles, with the Rev. Randy Pearman of the church officiating. Arrangements were completed at the Halbritter-Wickens Funeral Home, 615 East Main Street in Niles. Memories and condolences may be left at:

Patricia loved life, and used her life well; getting-up every day to get ready and go wherever she needed to go, showing no limitations. And she loved the people in her life, always greeting folks along her journeys, corresponding through the mail, and worshipping with the people at Bethel Baptist, who loved her and prayed for her.
