Patricia Smith

Patricia Jo Smith, age 60 years of Niles, Michigan died peacefully at 2:21 a.m. on Thursday, May 24, 2018 with family gathered around at her home following an extended illness.

She was born on August 20, 1957 in Cumberland, Wisconsin to Chester A. and Ruth Lillian (Benson) Dash, Sr.  She attended Brandywine Community Schools in Niles, and has lived here most of her life.  She had been employed for many years at SPI Industries in South Bend, Indiana as a product inspector.

Patty was a devout Christian.  She enjoyed gardening and cooking which resulted in wonderful family gatherings where she especially enjoyed entertaining her grandchildren.

On June 9, 1978 she married Jose Larry Smith, who survives.

Also surviving are her daughters, Brandy Smith of Niles and Amber R. (& Robert) Clausen of Huntington, Indiana; grandchildren Lilium Elise, Solara, and Vincent; Patty’s father, Chester Dash, Sr. of Niles; and her siblings, Thelma (& Jerry) Sink, Larry Dash, Avis Carter, Chester Dash, Jr., Roger (& Mollie) Dash, and Albert Dash, all of Niles, Ruth (& Bob) Ford of Missouri, Linda (& Duane) Melady of South Bend, and Pam (& Eric) Behm and James Dash, both of Niles; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Ruth Dash on November 22, 1997.
