Richard Keith Eichler, age 65 of Edwardsburg, Michigan, passed away Monday, October 27, 2025. His life began March 16, 1960, in Niles, Michigan, the youngest of four children born to William and Donna (Wilson) Eichler.

Rick attended Buchanan High School and graduated with the class of 1978. During his senior year, he managed the varsity basketball team which went on to win the state championship that year. After graduation, he went to work for K-Mart in Niles, Michigan, where he met his future wife. On August 16, 1980 he married Jann Marie Hassinger at the First Presbyterian Church in Niles. Together they raised a daughter and shared over 45 years of marriage.

For many years he was an over-the-road truck driver where he became a driving instructor, making lasting friendships with many of his students along the way. Rick was a member of the Edwardsburg Presbyterian Church where he served as a deacon and sang in the choir. He could always be found in attendance at their daughter’s school activities, which included softball, basketball, tennis, and band concerts. Rick enjoyed playing euchre, pinochle, and he especially enjoyed playing golf with his parents and brothers. He was a fan of Notre Dame football, the Chicago Bears, and the Chicago Cubs. He also enjoyed officiating high school basketball and summer league softball. Rick was also involved in his grandchildren’s school activities. He enjoyed attending their school plays, band concerts, and competitions, often driving great distances to see their performances.

Rick will be greatly missed by family and friends. He is survived by his wife Jann; daughter, Tiffany Eichler of Edwardsburg; brothers, Harley (Fran) Lewis of Palmetto, Florida, Larry (Cindy) Eichler of Temperance, Michigan; sister, Karoline Johns of Anaheim, California; grandson Caleb; granddaughter Colbie and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
