Sharon Bushey

Sharon Ann Bushey, age 83 years of Edwardsburg, Michigan died peacefully at 3:17 p.m. on Sunday, December 23, 2018 with her family gathered around at Beacon Hill at Eastgate in Grand Rapids, Michigan following an extended illness.

She was born on May 18, 1935 in Osceola, Indiana to Claude and Pearl (Weaver) Grose.  She was graduated from Mishawaka (Indiana) High School, and has lived in Edwardsburg since 1959.  She was employed for many years at Edwardsburg Public Schools in food services.

Sharon was a member of Elkhart Faith United Methodist Church in Goshen, Indiana.  Her interest in food service was more than just a job, as she enjoyed cooking at home.  She was a great baker, creating “world renowned” pies – especially cherry pie, and enjoyed the culinary skills of others, often traveling two hours for a great meal.  She also participated in family activities outdoors including snowmobiling, and boating on Eagle Lake and on Lake Michigan.

On December 5, 1959 in Osceola she married George Dean Bushey with whom she celebrated earlier this month the remarkable Fifty-ninth anniversary of their wedding.

Surviving family includes her husband, George and their children, Doug (& Lisa) Bushey of Collinsville, Illinois, Denis (& Karen) Bushey of Annandale, Virginia, and Dana Bushey of Grand Rapids; grandchildren Ian Bushey, Sebastian Bushey, and Elizabeth Bushey; Sharon’s siblings, Gwennie Strickland of Osceola, Jon Grose of Boston, Massachusetts, Phil Grose of Osceola, and Preston Grose; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and by siblings Lavene, Beverly, Ronnie, Wynona, and Colleen.

The funeral service for Sharon Bushey will be at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 29, 2018 at the Halbritter-Wickens Funeral Home, 615 East Main Street in Niles with the Rev. John T. Hogsett of Elkhart Faith United Methodist Church officiating.  Committal will follow at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens in Osceola.
