Starr Starbuck

Starr Ellen Starbuck, 61 of Niles, wife, mother and devoted grandmother, passed away after a brief illness at St. Joseph Regional Medical Center.

Starr was born on October 4, 1961 in Niles to the late Maynard and Margaret (Breland) Ewert.

In March 1999, at St. Mark’s Catholic Church in Niles, she married Harold “Jim” Starbuck who survives.

She is also survived by her children; April (Art) Van Laecke of South Bend, IN, Erica (Joshua) Collins of Niles, grandchildren; Ave Foust, Aria Foust, Adrianna Van Laecke, Asher Foust, Anna Collins and Aurora Van Laecke. She is also survived by her brothers, Maynard ‘Buddy’ Ewert, II of Niles, Mark (June) Ewert of Robbins, Iowa and sister, Karla (Ray) Bennett of Niles.

Starr dedicated her life to people. She has been a Nurse for many years. She also has dedicated herself to her family.  She had a deep love for her husband, children and grandchildren. Those who knew her, know of her fun sense of humor. Starr loved to decorate her house. She had the knack for interior design.

Starr enjoyed going to the movies.  She was always up for a chance to go traveling or take a trip to one of the beaches along Lake Michigan. Starr, along with Jim, could often be found at one of the area casinos. She had an affection for card and table games.

A visitation for Starr will be on Monday, February 6, 2023 from 4:00pm to 8:00pm at Halbritter Wickens Funeral Home, 615 E. Main St. Niles.
