Tom Salisbury

June 12, 1946 — January 1, 2018

Tom I. Salisbury, 71 of Buchanan passed away on January 1, 2018 in Hanson Hospice House in Stevensville, MI.

Tom was born on June, 12, 1946 to Darcy “Slim” and Edna Salisbury.  He is preceded in death by his parents, his step father Harold Carlson and son Tom Michael Salisbury.

On October 17, 1967 Tom married Marlye who survives.  He is also survived by his son, Michael (Deanna) Salisbury of Buchanan, grandchildren; Ashlea Ransom of Niles, Teddy (Kandy) Wirick of Dowagiac, great grand children; Thomas Ransom, TJ, and Gabby Wirick.

Tom was very active in the community.  He believed in teaching children the proper way to play softball and basketball.  He coached at Central Elementary, Ballard, the FOP and YMCA.  In the early 1970’s Tom was a reserve Police officer in Niles.  He was extremely active with Pokagon Masonic Lodge #136.  Tom was a four time Past Master and two time Mason of the Year.  He was involved in every coordinate  body of the Masons.  He was a state representative for Demmlay when he was in High School. Tom helped restart Rainbow Girls and Job’s Daughters.  He also enjoyed hunting, fishing and golfing.  Tom loved to tinker around his farm.  He was a true handyman.

Tom’s wishes were to be cremated.  The family will hold a celebration of life at a later date.

Memorials in Tom’s name may be made directly to the family.
