February 13, 1939 — April 15, 2023

Niles

Bernard (Butch) Jansen passed away peacefully in his home on the Saint Joseph River after a two year battle with lymphoma. Originally from Gary, Indiana, Butch, a Marine Reservist in his youth, was a Glazier by trade for over 60 years and served several years leading the Glazier's union for the state of Indiana prior to his retirement. He will be remembered by tradesmen in Indiana and at the national level as a staunch advocate for fair pay and compensation for those working in the building trades industry. Butch was an avid fisherman and spent countless hours enjoying that pastime with the love of his life in the  Niles, Michigan retirement home they remodeled together. Butch is survived by his wife of 33 years, Kitty, his daughter Lisa (Jim) Rees of Fletcher, OK, step sons, Scott Toth of Valparaiso, IN, Mark (Gabriella) Toth of Oak Park, IL and two beautiful grandchildren, Enzo and Luiza. Following cremation, the family will celebrate their husband, father, and grandfather's extraordinary life at a private ceremony.
