Carla Williams

February 8, 1974 — July 3, 2022

Carla Georgette Williams, age 48 years of Niles, Michigan, mother, sister, aunt, homemaker, outdoorsgirl, and friend died too young at 9:44 p.m. on Sunday, July 3, 2022 at Memorial Hospital in South Bend, Indiana having fought until her dying moments against a long-term illness.  Her family made the decision to enhance and extend the lives of others through the gift of tissue donation.

She was born on February 8, 1974 in Niles to George Algie Rainey and Ruth Mae Williams, and attended both Brandywine Community Schools and Niles Community Schools.  Even though ill much of her life, she worked when she could, including as a clerk at the Niles retail store of Goodwill Industries.

Carla attended the Bethel Apostolic Tabernacle in Buchanan, Michigan.  She enjoyed providing a home for her children and loved caring for them.  She also cared for anyone who came into her life, making many friends along the way, and would help in any way that she could.  Sometimes caring for people included having fun, and one of her favorite activities was tubing on the Dowagiac Creek.

Carla was preceded in death by her parents, and by a niece, Kayla Renea Miller on July 15, 2015 and nephew, Aaron James Sanders on August 27, 2017.

Surviving family includes her daughter, Jade Williams of Saint Joseph, Michigan and sons, Brayden Williams and Kayden Williams, both of Niles; a niece who was raised in Carla’s home, Emily Williams Sholes of Saint Joseph and Emily’s children, Eleanor and Evelyn Sholes; Carla’s siblings, Mary A (& Raymond Ott) Sanders of South Bend, Patrick (& Christina)  James of Indianapolis, Indiana, and James Byron “Jimmy” Williams of Bloomington, Indiana; and Carla’s lifelong partner, Larry Anglemyer of Niles.

The family of Carla Williams is gathering privately on Saturday, July 9, 2022 at the Niles Township Community Park – Odd Fellows Park – 1505 Bond Street to share memories and honor her life.  Arrangements were completed at the Halbritter-Wickens Funeral Home, 615 East Main Street in Niles.  Online condolences may be left at:

Carla used her forty-eight years to care for folks around her, and to help everyone, fulfilling the command to love people and love God.
