Ellen Mikowski

Ellen Ann (Green) Mikowski, passed away December 28, 2018, after a brief illness, at the GlenOaks Hospital in Glen Heights, Illinois. She was born March 6, 1938 in Niles, Michigan to Frederick and Helen Green, who preceded her in death. She was the fifth of nine children. She suffered the loss of two sisters, Ramona and Michelle, and two brothers, Fred Jr. and James; and is survived by two sisters, Margaret and Della; and two brothers John and Terrance.

She attended St Mary’s Catholic Grade School, and graduated from Niles High School in 1956. She entered the Sisters of St. Joseph order located in Kalamazoo, Michigan in 1958. She was an educator for the next 14 years. She received her BA in education from Nazareth College, Kalamazoo in 1970. She left the order in 1970 and continued to teach at Lake Michigan Catholic H.S. in St. Joseph, Michigan.

Ellen Ann was a fierce competitor, loved sports, playing, and later watching, many in person.

Halbritter Wickens Funeral Service has been entrusted with the burial after cremation. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that a donation to St. Mary’s Grade School would be appreciated. The Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 25, 2019 in Saint Mary of the Immaculate Conception in Niles, Michigan, with visitation beginning one hour prior to Mass. Committal Rites will follow at Calvary Cemetery in Niles.
