Milton Township’s Smith’s Chapel – built in 1840 - always interested Kay. She volunteered time and effort to achieve appropriate recognition of its value. On December 31, 1987 Smith’s Chapel was certified as a National Historic Place and entered on the National Register of the National Park Service, United States Department of the Interior. Kay was rightfully proud of her participation in that project.
