Marlene Conley Schultz

April 5, 1941 — April 26, 2021

Marlene Carol Conley Schultz, age 80 years of Edwardsburg, Michigan, wife, mother, grandmother, active church member, devout Christian, and friend left this life unexpectedly - but not unprepared – on Monday morning, April 26, 2021 at her home, and entered eternal life.

She was born on April 5, 1941 in Niles, Michigan to Robert F. and Irma J. (Schellhorn) Koenigshof.  She was graduated with the Buchanan High School Class of 1959, and continued her education at Michigan State University (East Lansing), earning an associates degree in business.  She also earned her Michigan license as an Insurance Agent, and assisted her husband at the Conley Insurance Agency in Niles.  She has lived in Edwardsburg since 1988.

Marlene has been a faithful Christian all of her life, encouraging and supporting several area congregations, most recently the Granger Missionary Church.  She has met with many ladies over the years through the Bible Study Fellowship, and has written greeting cards of encouragement, inspiration, and reassurance every week.

She enjoyed travelling, especially with family and when researching her family's genealogy.  She actively participated in regular meetings and reunions of the Class of 1959.  She had a special gift for hospitality and enjoyed entertaining others.  All of these activities resulted in special friendships, second only to her family.

On February 17, 1962 in Three Oaks, Michigan she married Clarence R. “Bud” Conley with whom she celebrated the forty-sixth anniversary of their wedding prior to his death on April 17, 2008.  She was also preceded in death by her parents, Bob and Irma Koenigshof.

On September 9, 2010 at her home in Edwardsburg she married Ronald Schultz who survives.  Also surviving are her children, Robert “Rob” (& Jennifer) Conley of Carmel, Indiana, Moriah (& Mark) Cameron of Bristol, Indiana, and Susan "Suzy" (& Todd) Efsits of Elkhart, Indiana; grandchildren, Tyler Cameron, Zach Cameron, Abigail Conley, Anna Barringer, Nathan (& fiancée Chrysa Keenon) Conley, Christina (& fiancé Trenton Shelton) Cameron, Kyle Shrider, Katie Cameron, and Kara Shrider; Marlene’s sister, Ruth Ann (& Doug) Peirce of Burlington, Iowa; Bud’s sister, Kim Wagner of Bloomington, Indiana; and many treasured nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

The funeral service for Marlene Conley Schultz will be at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 1, 2021 at the Granger Missionary Church, 50841 Birch Road in Granger, Indiana with Marlene’s brother-in-law, Doug Peirce officiating, assisted by Lead Pastor Jason Dickinson and retired Pastor Thomas Murphy, both of Granger Missionary Church.  Social distancing and masking will be practiced.  Others may witness the service via the livestreamed broadcast on the Halbritter-Wickens Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/halbritterwickensfuneralservices/ .  Committal will be on Monday at the Oakridge Cemetery in Buchanan.

The family will receive relatives and friends on Friday at Granger Missionary Church from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and on Saturday beginning at 2:00 p.m. Contributions in memory of Marlene may be made to Granger Missionary Church, 50841 Birch Road, Granger, Indiana, 46530, http://grangermc.com/ .  Arrangements were made at the Halbritter-Wickens Funeral Home, 615 East Main Street in Niles.  Online condolences may be left at:

Marlene’s favorite activities all were focused on people: her class reunions, ancestry studies, Bible studies, church fellowship, and - most importantly – her family; all evidence of her passion to love God and love people.
