Nancy Clark

July 20, 1933 — January 7, 2023

Niles

Nancy Jane (Saxton) Clark, 89 of Niles, passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 7, 2023 in Brentwood at Niles.

Nancy was born in Battle Creek, Michigan on July 20, 1933 to the late Loyal and Jean (Harris) Saxton.

On November 19, 1954 in Battle Creek, she married R. Dale Clark.

Nancy is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Dale and her sisters, Lois Neal, Suzanne Saxton and Connie Wensloff.

She is survived by her children, Amy Jean (Bob) Strozewski of Niles, Patricia (John) Moss of Wesley Chapel FL, Andrew (Colleen) Clark of MI;  grandchildren Travis (Heather) Clark, Ryan (Ashley) Clark, Dagne (Cameron) Clark, Bobby Dulin, Barbra (Joshua) Vorce, Brandon (Lexi) Strozewski, Jayson (Alison) Strozewski, Matthew (Jordan) Strozewski, Michael, Jenna and Tyler Moss as well as 16 Great Grandchildren and one on the way. Nancy is also survived by her brothers, Michael (Sherry) Saxton of Port St. Lucie, Fl and Dr. Stephen (Pat) Saxton of Cassopolis and her very special and best friend, Karen Pratt of Buchanan.

Nancy was an active member of the First Presbyterian Church in Niles. Nancy was always in the middle of reading a good book or two and was a member of the Niles Library Book Club for many years.  Nancy and Dale loved to travel and frequently went camping in Michigan and even took a trip out West in their pop up camper. An avid bicyclist, she rode her bike well into her 80s. She loved having a membership at Fernwood Botanical Gardens, often taking her grandchildren on nature walks or listening to a concert outside in the evenings with Karen.  She and Karen spent many Sunday evenings listening to music on Weko Beach and enjoying a glass or two of good wine.  Nancy loved her flower garden, sitting outside on her patio, drinking her coffee and watching the birds and deer around her.  She was a resilient person who defeated cancer not once, but twice.  She loved her family, especially her grandkids and great-grandkids.  She was a caretaker at heart; she cared for Dale for many years faithfully while his health was declining until his passing in 2008.

In keeping with Nancy’s wishes, cremation has taken place.  Burial at Silverbrook, next to Dale will be at a later date.

Halbritter Wickens Funeral Home, 615 E. Main St. Niles, has been entrusted with the arrangements.
