Rosemary Gentry

January 8, 1939 — May 19, 2022

Rosemary (Rony) Gentry of Niles Michigan passed peacefully on Thursday May 19th 2022 at Buchanan Meadows Community, she was 83 years old. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother and friend.

Rosemary was born on January 8th 1939 in Dowagiac Michigan to the late Howard and Helen (Nugent) Mersereau.

Rosemary is survived by her sons Rusty Woofter and Todd (Sheryl) Gentry, daughter, Shelly Olson, son in-law, Roger Teeter, and sister, Carol Mersereau. She has seven grandchildren, Justin Olson (Alisha), Alex Olson (Ashley), Miranda Olson, Brittany Woofter, Chris Woofter, Maddie Gentry and Justin Gaither. She has eight great grandchildren, Wyatt and Lindyn Olson, Sawyer Olson, Benson and Alyson Carnes, Landon Hamilton, and Brantley and Kyra Gaither.

Rosemary was proceeded in death by her husband of 39 years Kenneth Gentry, daughter Shelly Teeter, and her parents Howard and Helen Mersereau.

Rony was a big fan of University of Michigan football (GoBlue), she adored her numerous beloved Golden Retrievers, as well as many members of her Niles graduating class of 1957. She was a member of Trinity Episcopal Church, loved collecting antiques, hunting at garage sales, and spending time with her family and friends. She also enjoyed delivering meals on wheels and meeting with her card club that “didn’t play cards.”

Friends and family would say she had a loving, welcoming spirit that her family and friends will carry on. Rony will be missed by many.

The family of Rosemary would like to thank the staff at Buchanan Meadows for all their wonderful support and exceptional care.

In keeping with Rosemary’s wishes, cremation has taken place. Arrangements have been entrusted to Halbritter Wickens Funeral Services in Niles MI.
